Hazel Boone Dance Camp

Forty girls between the ages of 7 and 12 spent a week at Hazel Boone Dance Camp earlier this month. Each day began with circle games to get to know each other, then campers were divided into smaller groups for dance lessons. They learned short routines in tap, jazz, musical theater, hip hop and ballet and put on a show for their families at the end of the week. The campers also made daily craft projects, which they eagerly showed off to their families at the end of camp.
Camp director Holly Costa was proud of her eight teenage counselors, who were the backbone of the camp. “The campers loved all of the counselors and really looked up to them,” Costa said. “The teenage counselors were wonderful role models for our young dancers.”
The counselors have all studied dance at the Hazel Boone Studios for years, and each counselor had the opportunity to choreograph and teach the campers during the week. Dance Camp was especially exciting this summer because it was held in Hazel Boone Studios’ brand-new home at 1 New Boston Drive in Canton (just off Rte. 138).
