Festival at the Farm, a weekend-long, all-ages celebration of “live music, great food, and unique experiences,” will return to Prowse Farm in Canton for a second consecutive year this coming Saturday and Sunday, September 16 and 17.

Organized by Six Chair Productions and presented by New Hampshire-based Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs, the festival will feature two stages of nationally known artists alongside some of Boston’s top local acts. Saturday’s lineup features Lettuce, Brett Dennen, Lee Fields and the Expressions, the Ballroom Thieves, Dwight and Nicole, Matthew Stubbs and the Antiguas, Julie Rhodes and LuxDeluxe. Sunday’s headliners include The Wood Brothers, Martin Sexton, The Marcus King Band and Ryan Montbleau along with Session Americana, Kat Wright, Twisted Pine, and Sean McConnell. Family-favorite Josh and the Jamtones will also perform on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Free Range Kids Zone, inspired by Pete and Gerry’s free range hens, will feature kids entertainment, including storytelling with Big Joe the Storyteller, magic with Awesome Robb, and Amazing Animal Ambassadors, as well as hands-on games and a Pop-Up Bookstore in conjunction with the nonprofit More Than Words. In addition, there will be family-friendly festival yoga and a Hoopla Zone with hula-hooping fun from Bring the Hoopla.

Community partners at the 2017 festival focus largely on bringing healthy, organic or humanely farmed food to the community and stewardship of the environment. This year’s partners include National Young Farmers, Certified Humane, B Lab, The Carrot Project, ChopChop Kids, Friends of Blue Hills, and Brookwood Community Farm.

In addition, Festival at the Farm will host locally sourced and inspired food vendors, culinary workshops and demos from ChopChop Kids, a farmers market featuring local farmers and food products, and a marketplace supporting talented area artists, crafters and vendors selling handmade items and a variety of interesting goods.

Festival at the Farm takes place at historic Prowse Farm, a 44-acre property located at the gateway of the Blue Hills Reservation and managed by the nonprofit Friends of Prowse Farm. Free parking is available on the Prowse Farm grounds.

“With a stunning view of the Blue Hills and its proximity to Boston, Festival at the Farm gives music fans of all ages the chance to escape the everyday, to enjoy a weekend of live music, delicious food and drink, and experiences focused on simple pleasures and good times,” said James Macdonald, founder of Six Chair Productions and producer of Festival at the Farm. “In addition to the music, fans can have some fun engaging with a host of other activities provided by our onsite partners, including many provided by our lead sponsor, Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs. We can’t wait to see everyone at the festival and we are thrilled to have Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs onboard.”

Six Chair Productions is a Boston-based entertainment company founded in 2016 by Macdonald that specializes in festival development, artist management, and musically minded brand experiences. It was Macdonald’s experience managing the much-loved Life is Good Festival at Prowse Farm that brought him back to the location to develop Festival at the Farm.
