CHS girls’ track team beats Stoughton, Foxboro, Sharon
By Mike BergerThe CHS girls’ indoor track team continued its strong season last week with impressive victories over Stoughton, Foxboro and Sharon.
“We have our eyes set on next weekend when we face off against King Philip,” coach Kerri Olmixon said. “If we win that meet, it will be our best record for an indoor season in ten years”
Oldmixon said January 3 was a great day for the Bulldogs who competed at the Freshman/Sophomore State Track Meet. Sophomore Vicky Tondre placed fourth overall in the 55-meter dash in 7.76, followed closely by freshman Keishorea Armstrong at 7.79. Angelina Salcedo placed sixth in the shot put.
The 4×200 team — Jude Altabbaa, Mellyn Costello, Armstong and Tondre — just missed qualifying for state Class Meet, but placed third overall in the meet. Tondre also placed third in the long jump (14 feet, 11 inches), and Costello made it to the semifinal in the 55-meter hurdles with an 11-second performance, good enough for 12th place.
“Overall it was a great day,” Oldmixon said, “and there were many good times.”
