Hannington’s still perfect through 13 games
By Mike BergerAfter 13 games Hannington’s leads the Canton Men’s Softball League with a perfect 13-0 record, followed by the Cincinnati Suds at 10-2 and Lewis Bar & Grill at 11-4. Canton Junction is also close behind in fourth place at 10-8.
Rounding out the standings are Golden China and the OIF/OEF Vets, who are tied for fifth place at 8-6, followed by Finnbarr’s Pub (7-6), Centerfield’s and Central Motors (both 3-11), Big D’s (2-13), and M.J. Enterprises (1-11).
Hannington’s has four hitters batting above .600 with Bryan Holtzman at .655, Mike Stuart at .647, Mike White at .625, and Mike Devoll at .621.
Jesse Goodrich is leading Golden China with a .778 batting average, followed by Matty Shu at .772, Greg Lyons at .667, and Bill Murray at .654.
Mike O’Brien, Ben Camarra, and Jake Bennett are the top hitters for Canton Junction.
In action last week, Hannington’s swept a doubleheader over Central Motors 11-9 and 19-4, OIF/OEF beat Centerfield’s 12-4, Hannington’s beat Canton Junction 16-3, and Finnbarr’s beat Central 18-7. In other action, Junction beat Centerfield’s 6-5, and Lewis Bar and Grille swept Big D’s in a doubleheader 12-2 and 5-4.
Today’s matchups include Finbarr’s versus Golden China at Devoll and MJ’s versus Big D’s at Messenger. Tomorrow, Centerfield’s will take on MJ’s at Devoll and Big D’s will play Hannington’s at Messenger.
Several games are also on tap for next week, including Wednesday’s marquee matchup between Hannington’s and Cincinnati Suds at 6:30. Hannington’s will also take on third-place Lewis earlier that evening at 5:30 at Messinger.
