Unbeaten Hannington’s leads Men’s Softball League
By Mike BergerHannington’s was still undefeated at 14-0 heading into the final week of the Canton Men’s Softball League regular season, but Cincinnati Suds still has the most wins at 15-2.
Tied for third place in the league with a 12-6 record are Lewis Bar and Grill and Canton Junction. Golden China is in fifth place at 10-7, followed by OIF/OEF Vets and Finbarr’s Pub (both 10-9), Centerfield’s (3-12), Central Motors (3-13), MJ Enterprises (2-13), and Big D’s (2-14).
In action last week, Junction beat OIF/OEF 16-10, while Golden China slugged its way to a 21-0 win over Central Motors and Lewis Bar and Grill defeated Central 9-4. In addition, Hannington’s defeated MJ’s 20-8, Finbarr’s beat Golden China 9-7, and MJ’s beat Big D’s 5-4. Other wins without reported scores included Cincinnati Suds over Lewis Bar and Grill twice and Golden China over OIF/OEF.
The final week of the regular season will end this Sunday with three makeup games.
MJ’s and Golden China will play a doubleheader tonight at Devoll Field starting at 5:30 p.m., and Big D’s will face Canton Junction at Messenger Field. Tomorrow, Cincinnati Suds will face Central at Devoll while Hannington’s will go up against Golden China at Messenger. Sunday’s makeup games include Big D’s vs. Hannington’s at 4:30 p.m., Centerfield’s vs. Big D’s at 5:30 p.m. and Centerfield’s vs. MJ’s at 6:30 p.m. All games will take place at Devoll.
