Undefeated Precision/KT’s earns top seed in women’s softball playoffs
By Mike BergerPrecision Speed & Strength/KT’s finished undefeated with a perfect 12-0 record this season to earn the top seed in the Canton Women’s Softball League playoffs.
Grabbing the second seed was American Legion, which finished in a tie for second place at 10-2. The other second-place team, Pete’s Place/Paula’s Package Store (10-2), was given the third seed.
Big D’s came in fourth with a record of 9-3, followed by New Turnpike Café (7-5), Dockray & Thomas (5-7), Alamo Café (4-8), BZ & Co., (2-10), Matt Kelly’s (1-11), and Canton Junction Sports Pub (0-12).
The opening round of the double elimination tournament occurred last week, and the first victories were recorded by BZ & Co. over Matt Kelly’s and Alamo Cafe over Canton Junction.
In other playoff action, KT’s beat BZ & Co. 20-4; Big D’s beat New Turnpike Café 5-4; American Legion beat Alamo Cafe 12-2; and Dockray and Thomas beat Pete’s Place/Paula’s Package Store 5-3.
A winners and losers bracket were established following the first round. In the loser’s bracket, Canton Junction was due to play New Turnpike Café, and Matt Kelly’s was due to play Pete’s Place/Paula’s Package Store.
In the winner’s bracket, KT’s was due to play Big D’s and American Legion was due to play Dockray & Thomas.
