By Joe DeFeliceThe warrant for non-zoning articles for the upcoming Annual Town Meeting, scheduled for April 25, 2011, opened on December 16 and will close on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 12 p.m. The zoning article warrant closed on December 10. If you have a non-zoning article you wish to be considered by the Annual Town Meeting, now is the time to submit it.
Did you see that the Blue Hill Ski Area has been making artificial snow? It appears we can now get out our ski equipment and start the season right here in our backyard.
Pleasant Street resident Paul Callanan recently reported seeing a bald eagle hunting on the Rez, and perching on a tree by the dam. An amazing sight!
The Canton Planning Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 6, at 7:30 p.m. on a petition seeking special permit approval by the Pine Street Realty Trust, Anthony Will, for a flexible development residential plan to construct a 39-lot subdivision to be called Stillwater Estates on property located off Indian Lane and Tucker Drive to the northeast and Industrial Drive to the southwest.
Finally, MAC wishes you all a very Merry Christmas, and he hopes that Santa brings you the presents you wrote to him about. MAC also hopes that Santa has you on his nice list and not his naughty list so he won’t bring you coal.
Like many years in the past, you probably will see at least one copy of the letter that 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon wrote to the editor of the New York Sun in 1897 questioning whether or not Santa Claus really exists. When you see it, take a moment and re-read the editor’s response. It explains it all.
FYI: The Canton Food Pantry distributed175 turkeys, 750 pounds of potatoes, 530 pounds of squash, 250 pounds of onions, 200 pounds of sweet potatoes, countless cans of vegetables, 175 boxes of stuffing, 130 pies and 175 bottles of cider. According to food pantry co-director Mary Ellen Hudner, there was “plenty of food” for everyone.
As we struggle with shopping lists and invitations, compounded by December’s bad weather, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation and people to whom we are worth the same.
