By Canton CitizenJanet M. (LeBlanc) Joyal passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 21, her 81st birthday. She was the beloved wife of Eugene F. Joyal, whom she married one week short of 60 years ago.
Born in Waltham, she spent most of her adult life in Canton raising her four children. Janet worked as a cafeteria worker for the Canton Public Schools for many years. She also worked as a secretary in the Building Permit Department for the town of Canton and for Robinson’s Insurance Company in Waltham.
Janet enjoyed traveling with her husband, Gene, together with family and friends. More recently she loved to play cards with her grandchildren and spent many an hour on her word search puzzles.
Loving mother of Donald E. Joyal and his wife, Maureen, of Baldwinville; Robert F. Joyal and his wife, Ann, of Lakeville; Scott D. Joyal and his wife, Diane, of Taunton; and Steven D. Joyal of Casco, ME. Beloved sister of Susan Russo and husband, John, of Nashua, NH, and the late Bernard LeBlanc of Waltham. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Janelle, Chris, Michelle, Katie, Travis, Kelsey and Rachelle. Dear friend of Eileen Smith of Canton.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, January 29, in St. Gerard Majella Church. If desired, donations may be made in Janet’s memory to the Children’s Hospital Boston Stem Cell Program; Leonard Zon Stem Cell Program c/o Leonard Zon MD, 300 Longwood Avenue, Karp building 7th Floor, Boston MA 02115.
