A heartfelt thanks to Luce ‘Project Playground’ supporters

On Saturday, February 12, the Luce School CAPT held our “Project Playground” event at the Knights of Columbus. It was an evening filled with good food, music, raffles, and auctions, with all of the proceeds going to benefit the Luce playground fund. Everyone on the Project Playground committee should be commended for their hard work and effort. And to everyone who attended, a heartfelt thank you – we couldn’t have done it without you.
I would like to single out a few people as their contributions were integral to the success of the evening: Dave Foley and Foley’s Backstreet Grille provided delicious food and also presented the Luce CAPT with a donation check for $500; Tom Colby offered his DJ services for the evening; and Matt Dimock was a fabulous emcee. I’d also like to thank Mr. John Shea and the Knights of Columbus for providing their facility for the evening.
I have to acknowledge Julie Albert and Erin Weitz for putting together the fabulous displays for the raffles/auctions and Lynn Flaherty for creating our program. We received donations from so many individuals and businesses throughout the town that I can’t name all of them. But please know that your support is greatly appreciated.
We also received a number of “donations” from the Canton Police Department, the Canton Fire Department, and the teachers and staff of the Luce, who contributed to a very lively bidding war during the live auction. The evening was a true example of a community coming together.
With the success of this event, we are nearing our goal and still hope to build the new playground this summer.
