Election 2011: Victor Del Vecchio for Selectman
By Jeffrey CattelVictor Del Vecchio has been involved in Canton politics for the greater part of two decades, with the last nine years spent on the Board of Selectmen. Del Vecchio has worked as an attorney for more than 30 years with a focus now in consulting, mediation and arbitration. He said he’s most proud of how the town has sustained “a steady hand” during the recession.
“In the past three years, when the country has experienced a recession of unparalleled depths, the town has succeeded in getting millions in state, federal and private funds,” he said.
Del Vecchio said two major accomplishments that stand out from the past term include the proposal and planned implementation of the region’s largest solar farm at the Pine Street landfill and the agreement reached between the town and the Napleton Company regarding Napleton’s ownership of Reservoir Pond.
In his next term, Del Vecchio hopes to see through the implementation of the solar farm as well as explore the possibility of town oversight of the Ponkapoag Golf Course.
