‘Amazing woman’ and a great cause

By

Dear Editor:

I am writing to let you know about an amazing event the children and parents of Cheryl’s Home Daycare are having on Sunday, May 1. It is called Cheryl’s Kids Give Back! It will be held at 557 Pleasant Street from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This exciting idea came from my 5 year old one night after we read a story before bed. She asked if we could have a bake sale and donate the money. I was touched by the idea, and I felt I had to help it “get legs.” I approached Cheryl Isaksen, who watches my girls at her home daycare on Pleasant Street, with the idea and she loved it. She also happens to have “prime location” at her house. We decided to hold a bake sale the morning of the Luce School Fun Run since she lives directly across the street. We will be donating the proceeds to the Canton Food Pantry.

I am forever asking Cheryl for ideas on how to get my daughters, who are 3 and 5, to “see the bigger picture” and give back to the community. We agreed this was a fun way for them to do it. The mothers/fathers and their children of Cheryl’s Home Daycare will be baking and selling baked goods on the lawn that morning.

In fact, I also have to mention while I’m taking the time writing to you (which I have never done) what an amazing woman Cheryl Isaksen is. She has had her home daycare in Canton for more than 20 years and has touched many, many people’s lives through those years. Ask any mother in Canton, working or homemaker, if they know Cheryl and they will tell you what an extraordinary woman she is. She makes it possible for many families to successfully raise their children and have a career at the same time. She has two grown sons of her own. She can be seen daily with many, many children running happily and wildly in her yard. She is the kind of woman who makes you “thank God” you are lucky enough to have her in your life. I know I do! If you are ever doing a story on an amazing woman in Canton she is the perfect candidate.

So, please look for us on Sunday, May 1, on Cheryl’s lawn, and stop by for a yummy baked good. We are proud to be supporting little ones with great ideas and even bigger dreams, and donating to a great cause in the community at the same time.

Thank you for your support,

Jennifer Lebowitz
