Healey, Cynthia M.

By

Cynthia Meredith (Burrell) Healey, 92, of Milton, died May 20, 2011, at home after a long illness. She was the youngest daughter born to the late Arthur and Ruth (Kent) Burrell, formerly of Randolph.

She loved music, sports, knitting, 1,000-piece puzzles, and Eastham, Cape Cod; she was an accomplished harmonica player, and most of all, she loved her family beyond description.

Cynthia was born in Randolph, where she attended school and was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Randolph, including Christian Endeavor and choir. She and her beloved family established their home mostly on the south shore, first in Braintree and then a 25-year stay in Rockland, where she and her family were active members of Holy Family Church. In 1969, she moved to Canton, and 11 years later she retired to Cape Cod in the town of Cotuit, where she lived for 25 years. Since 2008, Cynthia was an active, beloved member of the Fuller Village community in Milton.

Cynthia was predeceased in death by her first husband, Walter L. Brown, and her loving husband of 50 years, Philip J. Healey Sr. in 1991; her sister, Virginia Burrell, of Randolph in 1998; and her youngest son, Thomas A. Healey, just one month ago.

She is survived by her sons: Walter L. Brown and his wife, Margaret (Sommer), of Canton; Philip J. Healey, Jr. and his wife, Diane (Orcianelli), of Hopkinton; Paul L. Healey of Somerset; Frederick D. Healey and his wife, Rosemary (Conley), of Fitchburg; a daughter, Jane M. (Healey) Ford and her husband, Thomas, of Quincy; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Moretti of Mansfield; a sister, Priscilla Neilsen of Marshfield; and a brother, Kenneth Burrell and his wife, Judith, of Holbrook. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends — each one very special in her heart.

A funeral service was held Tuesday morning, May 24, in the First Congregational Church in Randolph. Interment Central Cemetery, North Street in Randolph. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cynthia’s memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, c/o Dr. Peter Enzinger’s Research Fund, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215-5450.
