Photo #1: St. John the Evangelist School recently held its annual Tuition Raffle. The school is happy to announce that the Franzosa family won a free tuition for the 2011-2012 school year. Kate and Thomas are the children of Jennifer and David Franzosa. Kate and Principal Charlotte Kelly called the parents with the fantastic news.
Photo #2: Mrs. Fay’s third grade class at St. John the Evangelist School gave their presentations of Famous American People on May 13. Each student gave an oral report, in costume, of different Americans who have made a difference in our lives.
Photo #3: Eight girls wore purple on May 19 and had their hair cut by Savoy Salon in Canton. Savoy donated their services and sent the lengths of hair to Locks of Love and Pantene Beautiful Lengths. These programs use the donated locks to create wigs for children who lose their hair as a result of cancer treatment.
Photos #4 & #5: Mrs. Kelly’s second grade class at St. John the Evangelist School has read many of the Flat Stanley books by Jeff Brown. As the students traveled throughout the school year, they took along a cut-out of Flat Stanley and took photos of their travels with him. Flat Stanleys were also folded and mailed all over the world to family and friends. They traveled to exotic locales and were mailed back to the students and displayed on the classroom bulletin board. Grade 2 students recently had a Flat Stanley celebration and dressed as Flat Stanleys for the day. Flat Stanley continues to travel and on May 25 Brendan and Liam Polles took him to meet Vice President Joe Biden and toured Air Force Two.
Photos #6 & #7: St. John the Evangelist School renewed an old tradition with a May Procession to honor St. Mary, the mother of Jesus. Second grade students recently received their First Holy Communion and wore their white dresses and suits as they processed onto the stage.
