McCarthy, Margaret J.

Margaret J. McCarthy, 94, of Stoughton, formerly of Brockton, passed away June 3 at Baypointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Brockton. Born and raised in Somerville, she graduated from Somerville High School.

She lived in Miami Lakes, FL, for 47 years and operated a beauty salon there for 25 years. She was known for going to the local nursing homes in the Miami area on her days off to provide free hairstyling for the residents. When she became ill, she and her husband decided to move back to Massachusetts to be near her loving family.

Beloved wife of retired Major Daniel F. McCarthy USMC. Aunt of Edward Sullivan and his wife, Lorraine, of Andover; Joanne O’Brien and her husband, Eugene, of Canton; and Earl Velleca of FL. Sister of Rose DiPirro of Somerville. Great aunt of Edward H. Sullivan, Jr., Joseph Sullivan, Heather Mederios, Tim O’Brien and Jamie Mihaich. Great-great-aunt of Lily, Jack, Evan and Owen.

A funeral service was held Tuesday morning, June 7, at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home in Canton. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations may be made in her memory to Heights Crossing, Attn. Kathy Hermanson, 35 Christy Place, Brockton, MA 02301.
