Tom Lane of Canton wins NH golf tourney
By Canton CitizenCanton resident Tom Lane and Bill Duplisea were both winners of the 2011 ABCD Invitational Golf Tournament, held each year at Hales Location Country Club in North Conway, New Hampshire, on the last Saturday in July. Lane, a C player, and Duplisea, a B player, both netted a score of 82.
This year, 40 golfers participated. Lane beat out many notable players from Canton, including Joe Fannon, Jim McCurdy, Larry Hickey, Brian White, Kevin Kelly and Jim Duplisea. Lane was also winner of closest to the pin at 15’8” on hole No. 6.
During Friday’s Money Ball Tournament, Lane and his group (White, Paul Guerrieo and Bart Flaherty) were the winners.
Lane, in his rookie debut, joins fellow Canton residents White, Kelly and Jim Duplisea as winner of the coveted trophy.
All four golfers pictured have Canton connections: Bill Duplisea is a regular at Thursday night basketball at St. John’s and brother to Jim Duplisea. Chris Collins was the 2010 winner and has a brother and sister living in Canton. Jim Duplisea is a resident and hosted the tournament. Lane is a lifelong Canton resident.
Lane recently retired and is now enjoying Christmas in July after his exceptional golf winnings.
