Two visitors from the Chernobyl region — brothers Denis Butrin, 11, and Maxim Kobol, 17 — spent some time at the Canton Fire Station on Sunday, August 7, as part of their recent trip to the United States. The trip was made possible by the United Church of Christ in Canton, and the brothers are staying with UCC member and Canton Selectman Avril Elkort, who also hosted Kobol in 2005.

Another Chernobyl visitor, 15-year-old Valeriya Legchillo, is staying with Canton residents Christine and David Sullivan, whose daughter, Tracey, raised $1,000 to pay for Legchillo’s airfare.

Check out Mary Ann Price’s article in the August 18 issue of the Citizen for more about Canton’s three visitors and their latest trip to the U.S.
