By Canton CitizenMacLaren H. MacGregor of Kittery Point, Maine, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 — his 96th birthday — at York Hospital in York, Maine.
Mr. MacGregor was born in Boston, the son of Archibald and Marion (Pick) MacGregor. He was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth (Lisa) Kulvanen MacGregor.
During World War II, Mr. MacGregor served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a flight instructor and retired as a U.S. Naval Commander in 1969. He graduated with honors from Northeastern University School of Law in 1949 and practiced law in Canton for more than 40 years, where he also served as a selectman, a Republican town moderator, and chairman of the Canton Housing Authority. He was admitted as an attorney and counselor of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1985.
He is survived by two nephews, three grandnephews, one grandniece, three great-grandnieces, one great-grandnephew, and his beloved friend and companion, Francesca Danielian of Hampton Beach, NH.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Canton and the York Country Club in York, ME.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and boating from Nova Scotia to Cape Cod, and for many years he wintered in Puerto Rico. Mac’s interests were many and varied, and he took great pleasure in intelligent conversation with friends and family. He thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis, golf and bridge.
