Dance Out teams with 3 local performance companies
By Canton CitizenDance Out announces a newly expanded studio space and a collaboration with three local music, theatre and dance companies.
Melanie Cox, artistic director of Dance Out, began her Canton-based studio in 2006 out of the Masonic Temple in Canton Center. Her studio has grown from just 15 students to 150 students over the last five years and she has now moved into a newly renovated studio space on Neponset Street.
“The space is beautiful,” said Cox, who renovated the former warehouse into three dance studios, an office space and a spacious waiting area, “and I am so excited to be working with other teaching artists in the area who feel the same way about dance and music as I do.”
Julie Beckham, former owner of the Greater Boston Drama Studio in Canton, will be teaching monthly musical theatre classes and private voice and acting classes.
Music Together will be holding music classes for children ages 5 and under, and Haley School of Irish Dance has moved into the new studio space on Neponset Street as well.
“I really feel like this is a mini-performance arts studio right here in Canton,” said Beckham. “There are just so many classes — from music to hip-hop to drama to Irish step.”
Registration has begun for all classes. More information about classes can be found on the following websites: Dance Out and Greater Boston Drama Studio at www.danceoutcanton.com, Haley School of Irish Dance at www.haley-school.com and Music Together at www.bluehillsmusictogether.com.
