Art at Orchard Cove
By Canton CitizenOrchard Cove resident and artist Isadore Waber stands with one of his paintings during the opening of the Orchard Cove art gallery on August 31. Waber, age 100, is one of 22 senior residents of Orchard Cove — a Hebrew SeniorLife independent living community in Canton — who unveiled 30 works of art in the gallery’s opening, which is part of the first major renovation to the Orchard Cove campus since it opened in 1993.
Waber, a lifelong artist and brother of the author of the popular children’s book series featuring Lyle the Crocodile, works in a wide range of styles, including figurative, pop, abstract, modern, and folk art in both painting and sculpture. Waber first studied art in London in 1946 and still actively creates new pieces in his living room at Orchard Cove.
