The new ADA-compliant ramp at the Canton Senior Center, located at 660 Washington Street, has been completed. According to Council on Aging Director Diane Tynan, “What a difference it makes for those entering and leaving the Senior Center.”

Talking about the Senior Center, a free Italian dinner, sponsored by an anonymous donor, will be prepared the first Wednesday of each month starting at 4 p.m. Reservations are required in advance by calling 781-828-1323. Also, the Canton Lions Club will be starting up its monthly luncheons on Saturday, September 17, at noontime. All meals are home-cooked. The cost is only $5. Call 781-828-1323 to reserve a spot.

The Federal Communications Commission has proposed rules that would require wireless carriers to provide customers with notifications, perhaps by voice messages or text alerts, when they approach and reach monthly plan limits that trigger overage charges. The commission is also proposing rules that would require mobile providers to caution customers when they’re about to incur international charges or other roaming charges that aren’t covered by their monthly plans.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, there are 839 residents per square mile in the state of Massachusetts. Only New Jersey (1,195) and Rhode Island (1,018) have a higher population density. Alaska with 1.2 residents per square mile and Wyoming with 5.8 are at the bottom of the list. In the town of Canton, there are 1,170 residents per square mile.

The average age of residents in the town of Canton is 42. According to the U.S. Revenue Department, the average household income for the town of Canton is $84,804.

According to the Energy Department, every $1 change in the price of a barrel of crude oil translates to 2.4 cents per gallon of gasoline. In general, it takes two weeks for a change in crude prices, which account for more than half of the cost of gasoline, to begin to find its way to the pump and about a month before the full impact is felt.

For those who want to know: Each 1 cent decline in gas prices puts an additional $1 billion a year into consumer pockets.

Consumer Reports magazine has rated the new Wendy’s fries ahead of McDonald’s, Five Guys, KFC, and Burger King. Consumer Reports experts gave Wendy’s the edge over second-place McDonald’s because its fries were “a bit more potato-y.” Stoughton has a Wendy’s, KFC, McDonald’s and a Burger King, while Canton has Five Guys at the Village Shoppes.

The T&B Pub, formerly Finbarr’s, Rosario’s, and Mario’s, is now open at 521 Washington Street. The new sports bar, which features 10 flat-screen TVs, highlights homemade food, thin-crust, Italian-style pizza, and the 10-oz. angus beef “Bulldog Burger.” It’s open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sundays from noon to 1 a.m. (9 p.m. to 11 p.m. for pizzas and appetizers). Give it a try.

David Reynolds died recently at the age of 96. Mr. Reynolds helped bring aluminum foil and aluminum beverage cans into the American kitchen. In 1967, his company introduced the first aluminum cans for Pepsi Cola. Today, more than half of all beverages sold in American supermarkets come in aluminum packaging. Mr. Reynolds was the last member of his family to lead Reynolds Metals, which was founded in 1919 by his father, Richard S. Reynolds Sr., and grew to become the nation’s second largest aluminum manufacturer behind Alcoa. Reynolds was sold to Alcoa in 2000.

According to The Improper Bostonian Magazine, Robert “Boston Rob” Mariano has created quite a career from exploring the world outside his native Canton. Starting October 2 on the History Channel, watch Rob try to circumnavigate the globe by blimp, fighter jet, ostrich, and his personal favorite, “helicopter water-skiing,” in his new reality show “Around the World in 80 Ways.”
