Barrett, Anne M.
By Canton CitizenAnne M. Barrett, 81, of Marion, died at home on October 19, 2011, after a long illness.
Anne was born in Canton to the late Lawrence and Anna Walsh. She attended Canton Public Schools and spent her childhood summers in Swifts Beach, Wareham.
After high school, she graduated from Chandler School for Women in Boston.
In September 1952, Anne married and settled in Weweantic Shores in Wareham. In the late spring of 1965, Anne and family moved to Marion where she continued to live until the spring of 2001, when she retired to Homosassa, FL. She returned to Marion in the spring of 2008.
In the early 1950s, Anne worked at Tobey Hospital as a transcriptionist. She would return to Tobey in the 1970s, then left for St. Luke’s Hospital where she worked in the medical records department for nearly 10 years.
In the mid 1980s she lived in San Francisco for two years and worked at the UCSF Medical Center as secretary to one of the chief anesthesiologists. Before retiring, Anne worked for a number of years as an administrative assistant in the Tabor Academy Summer Program.
Anne is survived by her five children: Laurene A. Sherman of Rochester, Jon M. Barrett of Newport, RI, Mae Barrett of Marion and San Francisco, CA, William K. Barrett of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Patrick J. Barrett of Edgewater, MD.
She is also survived by her three brothers, Lawrence Walsh and William Walsh, both of Canton, and John Walsh of Pawcatuck, CT; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
