Walter T. “Ted” Wedge, 76, of S. Easton and Ormond Beach, FL, formerly of Canton, died November 9, 2011, after a brief illness.

Ted was a retired MDC police captain who proudly served for many years. He was also a proud veteran, serving as a boiler tender first class in the U.S. Navy. Ted enjoyed singing in a barbershop quartet, was a former commander of the AMVETS in Stoughton, and a proud Mason serving the Blue Hill Lodge in Canton, where he was a past master.

Devoted husband of Elinor (Jennison). Loving father of David C. Wedge and his wife, Catherine, of Brockton, Robert “Scott” Wedge and his wife, Paula, of Stoughton, Julie A. Wedge and her fiancé, Alan Boncorddo, of S. Easton, and Amy E. Wedge and her fiancé, Alan Costello, of Saugus. Loving brother of Alice E. Wedge of Canton and the late William T. Wedge. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be celebrated in the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, Thursday, November 17, at 10 a.m. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted’s memory to the Blue Hill Lodge, AF & AM Scholarship Fund, c/o Ralph W. Staples, Secretary, 28 Wardwell Road, Canton, MA 02021.
