Selectmen announce deadlines for ATM ’12 warrant
By Mike BergerThose wishing to place a zoning article for the upcoming Annual Town Meeting, scheduled for April 30, 2012, must submit a completed application — including an explanation of the proposed article — to the Board of Selectmen’s office by December 9 at 12 noon.
All zoning articles will be reviewed prior to town meeting by the Planning Board and the town counsel, and a public hearing will be held to allow for citizen input.
Selectmen also announced last week that the opening date for filing all non-zoning articles is December 15, and all filings must be submitted to the selectmen’s office by noon on January 3. Again, a brief explanation of the article is needed.
In other news, because of the extent of the tree and limb damage caused by the early October snowstorm, selectmen extended the opening of the leaf and yard waste facility on Pine Street until Saturday, December, 17. The facility will also be open for two weeks in early January, but only for the deposit of Christmas trees and wreaths.
Selectmen also announced that they are working with the Council on Aging and the Fire Department to compile a master list of at-risk residents who need to be checked on during a major storm, power outage or public emergency. The public is asked to notify the Fire Department, COA or selectmen if they know of any residents who have health issues, require special medications, or have any other issues or concerns.
