Thompson, Edgar D.
By Canton CitizenEdgar D. Thompson, 82, of Canton, formerly of Hyde Park, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 16, 2012, at Caritas Norwood Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Boston, Edgar enjoyed spending some of his childhood in Nova Scotia. He was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. As an employee of Raytheon, he worked as a test technician for over 30 years until his retirement in 1995. He was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed sailing, golf, and spending his summers on Nantucket.
Beloved husband of Margret M. Thompson (Mittler). Loving father of Linda Thompson of Pelham and Lisa Thompson and her wife, Ellen Landis, of Pelham. Loving stepfather of Margaret Aliberti of Boston, Charles Aliberti of Nantucket, and Andrew Aliberti and his wife, Sarah, of Martha’s Vineyard. Loving brother of Lorraine “Fay” Woodcock of Oregon, Ralph Thompson of Waltham, and the late Frank Thompson.
Proud grandfather of Alexandra Aliberti of Boston and Aidan and Keaton Aliberti of Martha’s Vineyard. Raised with cousins Ethel and Sonny Thompson, Tim Dean, and the late Gregory Dean of Nova Scotia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
