Herr family grateful for community support

Dear Editor:

We would like to extend a thank you to all those who organized, attended and participated in the recent Metropolis Winter Hockey Classic. In particular, we would like to thank Coach Brian Shuman, his coaching assistants, and the entire Canton High School varsity hockey team, as well as the hockey teams from Norwood, Westwood and Blue Hills. We would also like to recognize the tremendous support from the entire Canton community and the surrounding region for this event.

A portion of the proceeds from the Winter Classic were generously donated to the Scott M. Herr Memorial Scholarship Fund, along with the Matt Brown fund. In two years, 20 scholarships have been awarded to deserving Canton High School students in Scott’s name.

It is events such as this that fund the annual scholarship program and allow us the opportunity to continue to give back to the Canton community in Scott’s memory. For this, we will always be grateful.
