This event features student performances with an entertaining twist: an all-day festival of music presented in an informal setting, along with fun family activities. The event will take place from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Canton High School.

Student ensembles will be performing in the high school cafeteria throughout the day. Families can drop in and have lunch or a snack from the concession stand while taking in the show.

“This is the only event that showcases students from the elementary, middle and high school levels all in one venue,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Collmer.

In addition to the performances, there will be lots of fun activities, including a music-themed arcade featuring a tambourine toss, guitar mini putt, karaoke, face painting, and more.

“Our silent auction and raffle items will have something for everyone,” said event co-chair Susan Harrington. “Look for autographed Red Sox and Bruins collectables, gift baskets of all kinds, and gift cards from a wide array of local businesses.”

MusicCounts! is the advocacy group dedicated to advancing music education in the Canton Public Schools. The group funds music programs such as artists in residence, student participation in district and all-state festivals, and the high school music honor society.

Additionally, MusicCounts! fully funds all of the after-school music programs that are not in the school budget. The following programs are offered free of charge to all Canton students: All-Town Band for fifth graders from all elementary schools; Canton String Orchestra for fifth, sixth and seventh graders; the JFK Xylos and the Luce Orff Troupe, percussion ensembles for fifth graders; the Galvin Middle School Jazz Band, Canton High School A Capella Chorus, and Canton High School Jazz Band.

“Because MusicCounts! eliminates the activities fee, it truly makes music accessible to all the children in Canton’s public schools, regardless of income or ability to pay,” noted fundraising chair Susan Caplan. “Cantonstock is not only a fun and affordable event for families, but the funds we raise support our efforts throughout the year.”
