CPD officer hospitalized after cruiser accident
By Mike BergerOfficer Scott Connor is recuperating from neck, head, and chest injuries suffered in a one-car accident in which he struck a tree on York Street on Monday afternoon, February 13, around 12:30 p.m.
Police Lt. Helena Findlen said Officer Connor is conscious and is being treated for non-life-threatening injures, including several lacerations. He was still undergoing medical tests as of Tuesday morning. The cause of the accident is still undetermined. He was transported from the scene to Boston Medical Center by a Canton Fire Department ambulance. The cruiser suffered heavy damage, Lt. Findlen said.
Officer Connor is the department’s community affairs officer and is the school resource officer at Blue Hills Regional Vocational School.
One arrested, 6 to face charges in major drug seizure
Canton police, along with the county MetroLEC team of emergency security forces, seized a gun and sizeable amounts of heroin and marijuana at a Weathervane Road residence early Friday morning, February 10.
Police arrested John Lozzi, 30, of Stoughton, and charged him with possession of a firearm (22-caliber gun) without an FID card and possession to distribute a class B substance.
Police intend to serve complaints to six others who were at the Weathervane residence at the time of the seizure. Five of the individuals are listed as residents of the home, including Ronald Lozzi, 51, who faces charges of being present where heroin is kept and possession to distribute a class B substance; and Debra Foundas, 54, who faces charges of being present where heroin is kept and possession of heroin. Four others, ages 25, 25, 19 and 18, also face drug possession charges.
Police Lt. Helena Findlen said the seizure and arrests concluded an ongoing investigation that involved the assistance and cooperation of other police departments, detective bureaus, and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council. Lt. Findlen said police obtained a warrant to search the house which netted 42 pieces of evidence. “It was a great job of police work by everyone involved in the police investigation. It was a great coordinated effort,” she said.
