Galligan, Margaret A.

Margaret A. Galligan (Gubbins), 88, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly April 6 at Norwood Hospital.

Born in Milton, she was raised in Newtonville and attended Our Lady Catholic School in Newton. In her earlier years she worked as a bookkeeper for the Boston Flower and Grain Exchange in Boston and for Unity Feeds in Boston. After raising her children, she worked as an accountant for Vanzetti Infrared Computer Systems. She has lived in Canton since 1954 where she was an active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church and a den mother with the Boy Scouts.

Beloved wife of Gerald M. Sr. Mother of Gerald M. Jr. of Abington, Joseph L. of SC, Kathleen M. of Canton, Donald G. of NH, Susan E. Kane of Pembroke, and James E. of Marshfield. Sister of Miriam C. Davis of Falmouth. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held Wednesday morning, April 10, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment VA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. John School Foundation, Box 604, Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
