Selectmen map out road paving plans for coming year
By Mike BergerThe Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator Bill Friel, in consultation with the Department of Public Works, have identified some of the road priorities for the coming year after receiving news that the town will receive nearly $775,000 in Chapter 90 roadway money for the 2013 fiscal year.
Friel said the funding amount is very similar to the amount received this fiscal year.
Taking into account the recommendations from the town’s Pavement Management Plan, Friel said the road projects for FY13 will include: Washington Street from St. Gerard’s Church to Route 138; the full length of Sassamon Street to Washington Street; and the new parking area for the upgraded DPW garage on Bolivar Street.
Selectmen Chairman John Connolly also suggested that the DPW consider the area on Washington Street from the Village Shoppes to Dunbar Street, while Selectman Avril Elkort suggested they look at the many potholes on Greenlodge Street approaching the train station parking area.
