Taylor, Claire P.
By Canton CitizenClaire P. Taylor (Polek), 68, of Canton, died peacefully in her home on April 4, 2012, after a long-fought battle with multiple myeloma.
Claire was a proud graduate of Boston College School of Nursing in 1965. She worked as an RN in San Francisco and San Diego from 1965-1967 and at Children’s Hospital in Boston from 1967-1971. She worked as a pediatric rehab nurse for the children at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton for over 30 years until retirement in 2003.
She was a member of the Board of Trustees at the Mass. Hospital School, a member of the League of Women Voters, and a member of the Canton Association of Parents and Teachers. She was an avid golfer and gardener, and enjoyed sailing and spending summers in Pocasset with her family. She was a faithful parishioner, CCD teacher, and Eucharist Minister at St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton.
Loving and devoted wife of Donald L. Taylor of Canton. Loving mother of Matthew A. Taylor and his wife, Paula, of Norfolk; Martha T. Murray and her husband, David, of Plainville; and Robert W. Taylor and his wife, Melyssa, of Arlington. Loving sister of Richard Polek and his wife, Barbara, of Somers, CT. Proud Babci (grandmother) of Ryan, Alice, Matthew, Callie, and Abigail. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday morning, April 9, in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire’s memory may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851, or www.themmrf.org.
