Softball team thanks supporters for successful fundraiser

By

Dear Editor:

On Saturday, April 14, the Canton and Randolph high school softball teams played in a doubleheader. The Canton players, parents, and alumni sold food and drink donated by the community, and the players and their families made baked goods. Their efforts raised several hundreds of dollars for two charities: Cops for Kids with Cancer and Project Bread, which supports food pantries throughout the state.

Although pleased with the two wins the team earned that day, I was most proud of how the team came together for two great causes. They solicited all the donations, made posters and signs, and made special shirts and socks for the game. They are a wonderful group of girls who realize that they have the ability to make a difference on the field, but more importantly, off the field.

The softball team would like to thank the following businesses who donated to the cause. Without their support, the players could not have raised the money they did.

Pizza donations: Angelos, Center Pizza, Big D’s, Papa Gino’s, D & E, and T & B Pub

Water donations: Shaw’s, Walgreens, and T & B Pub

Thank you again for your support and for making this a special day.

Sincerely,

Ed Amico

CHS Varsity Softball Coach
