Ryan Sceviour graduates from police academy

By

Longtime Canton resident Ryan Sceviour graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy on April 6.

Sceviour, a 2007 Canton High School graduate and a 2011 University of Massachusetts Amherst graduate, completed the intensive 21-week Recruit Officers Course training that started on November 14, 2011. At age 23, Sceviour was the youngest member of the 51-cadet class.

The rigorous course incorporated a variety of skill sets ranging from precision driving and firearms to emergency medical training and the study of law. The ceremony included the pinning of the badges where family members, friends, and a variety of law enforcement officers pinned the state’s newest police officers. Sceviour had his officer’s badge pinned to him by his mother and father, Donna and Dana Sceviour of Canton.

The graduates, 46 men and five women, represent 27 departments across the commonwealth. Officer Sceviour is now honorably serving in the town of Brewster after beginning his duties on April 9.
