Life is good announces music lineup for 2012 festival

Life is good, a Boston-based lifestyle brand committed to spreading the power of optimism and helping kids in need through its products and its nonprofit Playmakers initiative, has announced the lineup for the 2012 Life is good Festival, to be held September 22-23 at Prowse Farm in Canton.

Headliners Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Sara Bareilles, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and The Fresh Beat Band are among the acts who will perform at the one-of-a-kind fundraising music festival to benefit the Life is good Playmakers, which helps kids overcome poverty, violence and illness by harnessing the healing power of play. One hundred percent of funds raised and all of Life is good’s net profits from the festival, including festival merchandise, will be donated to the organization.

In addition to the aforementioned headliners, the festival lineup includes the following artists: Soulive, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Eric Hutchinson, ALO, The Infamous Stringdusters, Ryan Montbleau Band, Sarah Jarosz, Allen Stone, Katie Herzig, Muck And The Mires, and Orange Television.

Families can enjoy the top acts in kids’ entertainment, with performances from Dan Zanes & Friends, The KIDZ BOP Kids, and Josh & the JamTones. Once again, Life is good has partnered with Superfly Presents, nationally recognized producers of the iconic Bonnaroo and Outside Lands festivals, to assure a first-class festival experience for all ages.

“We play, we dance, we make great music,” said Michael Franti. “Everyone who attends the Life is good Festival is all about spreading optimism and helping kids in need. I can’t think of anything more worthwhile than supporting Life is good’s annual fundraiser.”

In addition to raising money through tickets and merchandise sales, the festival creates a community of fundraisers by empowering festival-goers to give back through individual fundraising initiatives.

In the spirit of spreading optimism, Life is good calls on fellow optimists to support the cause by doing something they enjoy. Whether it’s holding a backyard barbeque, biking across the state or selling lemonade, anyone can help Life is good spread optimism and help kids in need with their own grassroots efforts.

Fundraisers can also earn the title “Very Good People” (VGP) and receive exclusive perks and concert privileges based on total funds raised. Rewards packages vary by funding level but include everything from private acoustic performances, meet and greets with festival artists, on-stage concert viewing, and access to the VGP lounge at the festival.

“There’s nothing better than making a difference and enjoying yourself while you do it,” said Bert Jacobs, chief executive optimist for Life is good. “Everyone who attends the festival joins in the spirit of spreading the power of optimism and raising money and awareness for the Life is good Playmakers, dedicated to helping kids overcome poverty, violence and illness.”

To date, Life is good has raised more than $8 million for kids in need, principally through its annual festival, Life is good products, and other fundraising activities. This year, Life is good seeks to raise over $1 million through festival fundraising.

Individuals are encouraged to join the movement today by purchasing tickets or creating their own fundraising page at Lifeisgood.com/festival. Adult tickets are $65 for one day and $120 for a two-day pass. Kids’ tickets (2-12) are $20 for one day and $35 for a two-day pass; kids under 2 are admitted for free.
