Thorn, Thomas E.
By Canton CitizenThomas E. Thorn, 95, of Canton, died June 8, 2012, at Hellenic Nursing Home. He was born on April 25, 1917, in New York City to William E. Thorn and Bertha (Hillman) Thorn.
He was a graduate of North Quincy High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard in the North Atlantic in World War II. Mr. Thorn worked as an architectural salesman for PPG Industries in Boston for 42 years. Following his retirement, he continued his hobbies of traveling and woodworking.
Devoted husband of the late Irene Willard Thorn, to whom he was married 56 years. Mr. Thorn is survived by his elder son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Jan Thorn, of Canton; younger son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Christine Thorn, of Paxton; and granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Ellsbeth and Joseph Cundall, of Brighton. Brother of the late William H. Thorn and Ruth A. Thorn. Grandfather of the late William T. Thorn.
Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to: American Health Assistance Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., Clarksburg, MD 20871, Macular Degeneration Research or National Glaucoma Research, www.ahaf.org.
