Doherty, John P.
By Canton CitizenJohn P. Doherty, 79, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly at home June 12.
Born in Boston’s South End, he graduated from Cathedral High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering. After retiring, he ran a family day care center in Canton with his wife, Betty, for many years.
Beloved husband of the late Betty A. (Breor). Father of John P. Jr. of CA, Stephen F. of North Attleboro, and Teresa M. Doherty of Brookline. Brother of Helen Dullea and her husband, William Magner, of Peabody. Brother-in-law of Mary Ellen Falcione of Winchester. Also survived by three grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held Wednesday morning, June 20, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Canton High Scholarship Fund, 900 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
