Hoffman, Martha J.
By Canton CitizenMartha J. (Cleary) Hoffman, of Norfolk, formerly of Needham and Duxbury, passed away June 20, 2012.
Beloved wife of the late Frederick L. Hoffman. Devoted mother of Frederick L. “Ted” Hoffman Jr. of Norwood, Jane E. Hoffman of Norfolk, Joanna “Jody” Raymond of Randolph, Elizabeth “Betsy” Sugameli of Canton, Nancy Finnell of Randolph, and Stephen Hoffman of Duxbury. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Joan Mulock, Kevin Cleary, and Philip Cleary.
Martha was a well-known member of community orchestras, including the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, New Hampshire Philharmonic, and the High Pines String Group of Dedham, playing under both Roland Tapley and Max Hobart. In addition to her orchestral and chamber experiences, Martha played in a variety of quartets and trios with her close friends at various receptions, celebrations and ceremonies in the area.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Martha worked at the Bank of Boston’s Wellesley and Waltham offices, from which she retired.
A funeral mass was held Monday morning, June 25, in St. Joseph’s Church in Needham. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martha’s memory may be made to the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, P.O. Box 81860, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481. Arrangements by the George F.
