**Check out this week’s Citizen (6/28) for our annual spring sports wrap-up, featuring team photos and season summaries of every CHS sports team.**

Boys MVP

Matt Malloy (Lacrosse)

Matt Malloy

A two-time captain and Hockomock all star, Malloy was the heart and soul of the team and also its unquestioned leader. He once again finished as the team’s leading point scorer and was third overall in the Hockomock League. Malloy was also the team’s best distributor, finishing with more than 25 assists.

Girls MVP

Michelle McNeil (Lacrosse)

A senior captain, McNeil was a consummate leader on and off the field, as well as one of the team’s best all-around players. A Hockomock all star, she led the team in goals with 56 and was the driving force behind the Bulldogs’ run to the second round of the south sectional tournament. McNeil, who finishes her career with over 100 goals, will head to Holy Cross in the fall to play field hockey.

Baseball

Michelle McNeil

Sam Larson

As he did with the CHS varsity basketball team as a high-scoring forward, Larson, a sophomore, turned heads in the Hockomock League with his pitching this season, posting a 5-1 record and an outstanding 1.84 earned run average. Larson is poised to be one of the league’s top pitchers next year, boasting an excellent fastball and good control of the plate.

Justin Rudy

Already a standout on the CHS football team, Rudy’s presence on the baseball team was felt in a big way this season. The junior batted a team-high .320 and also had multiple homeruns and extra-base hits. Rudy primarily plays third base but has also pitched on occasion.

Softball

Olivia Murphy

A three-sport star athlete who also dominated on the volleyball and basketball courts, Murphy wrapped up her four-year varsity softball career with an outstanding senior season, earning All-Hock honors after batting a robust .333. Head coach Ed Amico could not say enough about the continued growth of Murphy, who played well as a freshman and sophomore, but took her game to a “new level” over the past two seasons.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Matt Bagley

Only a sophomore, Bagley was the Bulldogs’ top defenseman, going up against mostly seniors and dominating the matchup on countless occasions. By season’s end, he had captured the attention of the rest of the Hockomock League, and head coach Bill Bendell said he would be “shocked” if Bagley was not named a league all star as a junior.

JC Marcone

A junior attackman, Marcone finished second on the team in points behind Malloy and seemed to get better as the season wore on. One of the Bulldogs’ most gifted goal scorers, he had several multiple-goal outings throughout the spring, including seven in a two-game stretch late in the year against Sharon and Milton. A talented ice hockey player, he will be looked upon as the team’s go-to scorer next season along with teammate Pat Ward.

Pat Ward

Another gifted scorer, Ward actually started the season in net and tallied 14 saves in the opener before being shifted back to offense for the remainder of the spring. He finished as the team’s third-leading scorer, and like his classmate Marcone, he piled up a lot of his goals in the second half of the season. He also scored a huge goal in the team’s only postseason game, finding the net just as he was getting hit on a play that Coach Bendell said defined Ward’s toughness.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Meghan Lennon

A junior attackman, Lennon followed up an outstanding ice hockey season with a spectacular lacrosse campaign, scoring over 50 goals for the second straight season en route to a Hockomock League all-star selection. Having already broken the 100-goal barrier, Lennon will be back next season to add to her totals and could very well end her career as one of the top goal scorers in program history.

Amanda Crowley

A junior defenseman, Crowley was one of the Bulldogs’ most consistent performers and finished as a team leader in takeaways and knockdowns. Tasked with defending the opposing team’s most talented offensive players, Crowley was aggressive, technically sound, and almost never out of position. She also managed to tally a late-season goal — the first of her career.

Angela Sementelli

One of the team’s two defensive “cornerstones” along with Crowley, Sementelli shined in her senior season, controlling the backfield while also tallying a pair of goals — including one on a coast-to-coast play that head coach Chris Murtagh said was reminiscent of Bobby Orr. She wasn’t the most vocal player on the field, but she led by example and was an excellent role model for the younger players.

Boys’ Track

Cam Huber

A senior captain, Huber followed up an excellent indoor season with an impressive spring, finishing as the Bulldogs’ leading scorer while also qualifying for states in three different events (400, 4×400 relay, and high jump). He also demonstrated his versatility by competing in the 200, 800, and 400 intermediate hurdles. Huber capped off his CHS career with a fourth-place finish in the 400 at the Division 3 championships, tying teammate Obi Nwankwo with a time of 51.09 seconds.

Girls’ Track

Vicky Tondre

After a dominant winter campaign, Tondre, a senior captain, finished off her CHS track career with an outstanding outdoor season, culminating with a first-place finish in the long jump at the Division 3 championships, where she also finished second in the triple jump and sixth in the 200. Prior to that meet, Tondre shined in all three events at the league championships, placing second, fourth, and second, respectively. The Bulldogs’ leading scorer this season, Tondre will continue her track career in the fall at the University of New Hampshire.

Mellyn Costello

A junior captain, Costello was the team’s second-leading scorer, tallying at least six points in every league meet. She went on to finish fifth at the Hock championships in the 100 hurdles and sixth in that event at the Division 3 meet. She also qualified for states as part of the 4×100 relay team.

Boys’ Tennis

Logan Cerruti & Alex Geyyer (doubles team)

Playing at first doubles, the senior duo of Cerruti and Geyyer consistently brought their A-game to the court, resulting in win after win for the 11-7 Bulldogs. Season highlights included a huge win against Franklin in which the pair won a decisive second-set tiebreaker, as well as another hard-fought win against North Attleboro that went to three sets. Their biggest win, however, came against Old Rochester in the first round of the south sectional tournament. Going in as the underdogs and losing the first set, Cerruti and Geyyer pulled it together for the win and propelled the Bulldogs to the next round of the tournament.

Girls’ Tennis

Micaela Nannery

A senior captain, Nannery led the Bulldogs to a 12-6 record and an appearance in the south sectional tournament. She also earned a spot at the individual tournament, where she fell in an early round to the eventual state champion. Named a Hockomock all star, she could be relied upon to crush the competition, as she did early on in straight sets against Boston Latin and Sharon, right through to the last home match against Stoughton (10-0).

Erica Nannery

Already one of the region’s top tennis players, Nannery followed up her outstanding CHS debut with a similarly dominant sophomore campaign. Joining her sister as a league all star, she was also named a Boston Globe and Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic. A standout performer throughout the 2012 season, Nannery took her game all the way to the semifinals of the south sectional individual tournament, where she also lost to the eventual champion.
