By Canton CitizenJohn E. “Jack” Conway, 88, founder and chairman of Jack Conway & Company, passed away July 23 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief battle with cancer.
A man familiar to generations of homebuyers and sellers throughout eastern Massachusetts, Conway leaves a giant legacy of business success and community involvement through his 56-year-old real estate company.
Conway founded the firm with a single office in Hingham in 1956 and built it to include 40 offices, including an office in Canton at 854 Washington Street. The company now has more than 600 associates and is one of the largest independent brokerages in Massachusetts.
Along the way, Conway made an impact in all facets of the community, particularly through his work with the homeless and countless other charities.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Carroll) Conway, and three children: Jack and his wife, Carol, of FL, Barbara of Scituate, and Carol Bulman and her husband, Michael, of Scituate. Also survived by his brother William of FL, sisters Elizabeth “Wiffy” Grozier of Falmouth and Carol Kermond of Winchester, as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is the brother of the late Edward Conway.
A mass of Christian burial was held Friday morning, July 27, in St. Mary’s Church in Scituate, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
