Histen, Jeanne C.
By Canton CitizenJeanne C. Histen, 92, of Canton, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Charlwell House Nursing Home in Norwood.
Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Helena (McConaty) Histen. She had been a resident of the Neponset section of Dorchester and Quincy prior to moving to Canton in 1940, where she has resided since. A graduate of Saint Gregory’s High School, she attained her degree in social work from Emmanuel College in 1942. Ms. Histen retired as the supervisor of medical records from the former Pondville Hospital after 32 years of service.
An active communicant and parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Canton, she had served on the Alter Guild and had been a member of the Ladies Sodality. She was a member of the Canton Seniors and had been a longtime Red Sox fan.
Ms. Histen was predeceased by her sister, Mary Armstrong, and her brother, Harry J. Histen Jr. She is survived by her nieces, Dorothy Armstrong Tubach of Lakeville, Ellie Corcoran of Foxboro, Jeanne Brown of CA, and Eileen Histen of NM; and her nephews, David Armstrong of CO, Harry Histen of TX, and Tom Histen of NM. She is also survived by her many grand and great grandnieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday morning, August 14, in St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
