Hugh A. Carney, 82, died October 31, 2012, following a brief illness.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester. Hugh was the former president of Thypin Steel of New England, located in Wilmington. He was the founder of Titanium Service Center of New England in Canton. Prior to retiring, he was a salesman for Maclean Steel in Quincy. He also worked for Industrial Stainless Steel in Cambridge and at the Codman Square Theatre in Dorchester.

Devoted husband of the late Mary P. (McLaughlin) Carney. Loving father of Hugh A. Carney Jr. of Canton, Brian J. Carney and his wife, Anne, of Kingston, Maureen B. Hampe and her husband, Stephen, of Easton, Colleen P. Piscitello and her husband, Michael, of Norwood, and the late Cecelia M. Carney. Brother of Russell Carney of Quincy. He is also survived by six grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday, November 5, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. If desired, donations can be made in Hugh’s memory to A Woman’s Concern, 1855 Dorchester Ave., Boston, MA 02124, or St. Vincent de Paul Society, 700 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
