Patricia Ann (Poirier) Healey, 65, of Plainville, died unexpectedly on January 7, 2013, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the cherished wife of Thomas E. Healey, to whom she was married on December 31, 1998.

Born in Canton on July 24, 1947, she was a daughter of Lawrence J. Poirier Sr. of Canton and the late Alma (Iaretti) Poirier. She was the stepdaughter of Irene Poirier of Canton.

Mrs. Healey was raised and educated in Canton, where she was a 1965 graduate of Canton High School. She remained a Canton resident until moving to Plainville 37 years ago.

She was a graduate of the former Fitchburg State Teacher’s College and was a first grade teacher in the Rehoboth-Dighton school district for 35 years prior to retiring seven years ago.

She took great pride in staying physically fit and enjoyed times spent training and exercising at Curves in Mansfield. Her family will remember with fondness her love for gardening, cooking, enjoyment of downhill skiing, and visits to Cape Cod.

In addition to her husband, father and stepmother, she leaves two sons, Todd T. Gemelli of Plainville and Scott A. Gemelli and his wife, Cheryl A. (Chaffalo) Gemelli, of Attleboro; a granddaughter, Ava M. Gemelli of Medway; her sister-in-law, Dianne (Sullivan) Poirier, wife of her late brother Lawrence J. Poirier Jr. of Canton; her brother John Poirier and his wife, Louise, of Dighton; a stepbrother, Richard Deagle, of AZ; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

She was the stepsister of the late James Deagle and Charles Deagle.

Public visitation is respectfully omitted. A private committal service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, followed by a private inurnment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Columbarium, Bourne. Relatives and friends will be invited to attend a celebration of life service to be held in the future. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Healey’s name may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.
