Darling, Maureen J.
By Canton CitizenMaureen J. Darling, 64, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital after her long battle with cancer.
Born in Boston, Maureen grew up in Canton, attended St. John the Evangelist School, and graduated from Canton High School. In addition to being a full-time mother, Maureen worked as a dental assistant, aerobics instructor, teacher’s aide, and eventually as a union truck driver for the Local Teamsters on the Big Dig, Spectacle Island, and Quincy quarry projects. Maureen was a devout Catholic, church volunteer, and CCD teacher.
She is the loving daughter of Virginia Galvin and the late Roger Galvin of Canton. Devoted mother of Kevin H. Darling of Boston and Kerri A. Darling of Quincy. Beloved friend and former wife of Howard Darling of Canton. Proud grandmother of Simone and Shiloh Darling. Loving sister of Ellen Cimadon of CT, Thomas Galvin of Brockton, Donald Galvin of Canton, and Roger Galvin of Wareham.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday morning, January 22, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen’s memory to assist cancer patients and their families via the Hopes Program, c/o Mass General Development Office, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
