Anonymity of letter writer weakens author’s credibility
By Canton CitizenDear Canton Citizens for Honest Government:
You are right that even a hint of public corruption should be brought to light at the appropriate time.
You are right that Canton should have more citizens running for elected office.
You are right that the citizens of Canton should turn out to elections and Town Meeting to hold us accountable.
However, you lose credibility when you refuse to sign your name to your words.
Our Constitution protects your right to free speech. The selectmen will not reverse the flow of sewage into your home because you have an opinion. I can only assume there is another, more sinister reason for your anonymity.
How did you come upon these executive session minutes? They don’t appear to have been released to the public yet. It’s very easy to attack people when you know that for legal reasons they are unable to respond.
I’m all for keeping government ethical, but let’s do it ethically.
