Statement from Police Chief on Chapman St. shooting

By

The Canton Police Department is actively investigating an attempted murder that occurred in our community in the early morning hours of March 15.

At 2:10 a.m. we received a 911 call from a female resident at 646 Chapman Street, indicating that someone had just come to her front door and shot her boyfriend in the neck with a firearm. Upon arrival, the scene was secured and the male victim transported to a Boston hospital with injuries that are not deemed life threatening.

The case is still fluid, and therefore we are not releasing any possible descriptions of suspects or definitive motives for this crime. Initial information obtained, however, does highlight the fact that this was not a random attack.

No one else home at the time of the incident was injured.

This is the first shooting that has occurred in the town of Canton since December 2005.
