Herr family thanks supporters of recent fundraisers
By Canton CitizenDear Editor:
On Friday, March 15, two separate events were held in Canton to support the Scott M. Herr Memorial Foundation.
The first event was the finals of the fourth annual Scott M. Herr Memorial floor hockey tournament held in the afternoon at Canton High School. Games were played from March 11-15 in the school gym. Teams of six participated in the event, which included students as well as faculty and staff members. Competitive play dominated each match with both young and seasoned competitors giving total effort throughout. That same evening, the CHS boys’ hockey team played in the annual Scott Herr game at Metropolis rink. The varsity team went head to head with coaches, alumni, brothers, parents and friends in an action-filled, high-scoring contest with many memorable moments.
The Herr family would like to thank all those who participated to make these two events possible and the community’s continuing support for the foundation established in Scott’s name. Special recognition to CHS students Kelly Bradley and Caitlin Hutchinson, who were instrumental in organizing the floor hockey tournament, as well as Coach Brian Shuman, Scott Connolly, Billy Ward, Cathy Leavitt, Don Leavitt, all the event volunteers, and the CHS boys’ hockey players for making this year’s annual hockey game such a special evening.
The Scott M. Herr Foundation supports both the annual CHS scholarship program as well as the Canton High School fitness center named in Scott’s memory.
Sincerely,
The Herr Family
