Donnelly, Frances ‘Pat’
By Canton CitizenFrances Rooney “Pat” Donnelly died suddenly on May 2, 2013, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
She was a Falmouth resident since 1971 and the wife of the late Lieutenant Commander John D. Donnelly, USN (Ret.), who died in 1999. They were married for 47 years. Pat Donnelly was born and raised in Cliffside Park, NJ. She was a 1951 graduate of Englewood Hospital School of Nursing, NJ.
She worked in many hospitals where her husband, a career naval officer, was stationed. She was a volunteer at Falmouth Hospital for over 20 years, working in the x-ray department. Pat was loved for her kindness, humor and inquisitive mind.
She is survived by her three sons and their families: Vice Admiral John J. Donnelly, USN (Ret.) and his wife, Mimi, of Annapolis, MD; Captain Michael D. Donnelly, USN (Ret.) and his wife, Candy, of St. Augustine, FL; and Brian B. Donnelly and his wife, Janet, of Canton. She had seven grandchildren: Lieutenant Commander Michael P. Donnelly, USN, Lieutenant Commander John C. Donnelly, USN, Lieutenant Sara R. Donnelly, USN, David J. Donnelly, Marie J. Donnelly, Laura M. Donnelly, and Erin L. Donnelly.
Memorial services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Pat’s name may be made to Spohr Gardens Charitable Trust, 45 Fells Rd., Falmouth, MA 02540, www.spohrgardens.org.
