H.T. Berry announces Jimmy Fund Golf event
By Canton CitizenThe annual H.T. Berry Golf Open to benefit the Jimmy Fund is scheduled to be held at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton on August 19. Part of Jimmy Fund Golf, one of the largest organized golf programs in the U.S., this event is being held to support cancer research and care at the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Every year, Canton-based H.T. Berry hosts a golf tournament that is funded by many generous sponsors and donors. Those who charitably participate with sponsorships are honored with variations of golf for two or foursomes at the tournament, advertising in the tournament’s ad book, a banquet lunch with Dana-Farber doctors and a guest speaker, and more!
Sponsors of the tournament this year so far are: Kimberly Clark, Georgia Pacific, SCA, Baystate Financial, Citizens Bank, Safety Zone, Aloof Plastics, and all of the Jimmy fund sponsors (American Airlines, Bridgestone Golf, Dunkin’ Donuts, The International, and Gateway Media New England).
Now in its ninthyear, the H.T. Berry Open hopes to raise over $100,000 for the Jimmy Fund. The tournament begun in memory of Viola Berry, dear friend and wife of H.T. Berry founder Mr. Henry T. Berry. The doctors, nurses, and staff at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fought hard along with Mrs. Berry and the Berry family to defeat her cancer. They lost Mrs. Berry to that battle over nine years against her cancer, but the war to defeat cancer moves on at the annual H.T. Berry Open in support of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
“Since the Jimmy Fund’s organized golf program began in 1983, the golf community has been incredibly supportive and has helped to raise more than $91 million for the important efforts of the researchers and clinicians at Dana-Farber,” said Nancy Rowe, director of Jimmy Fund Golf.
The annual H.T. Berry Open is scheduled for 8 a.m. with registration beginning at 7 a.m. Lunch is scheduled to follow the golf tournament at 1 p.m. For more information about the H.T.
