CHS wrestlers shine at Bay State Games

By

Canton High School senior Chris Sullivan captured his third consecutive gold medal in wrestling, winning the 138-pound class with a 4-0 record. Sullivan’s teammate and classmate, Quinn Merrigan, also shined at the games, winning silver in the 145-pound class.

Both wrestlers are coming off dominant individual seasons with the Bulldogs, highlighted by Merrigan’s first-place finish at the Division 3 state championships. Sullivan, a former state champion as a sophomore, finished second at the meet while both wrestlers earned both the league and sectional championships in their respective weight classes. Both also wrestled at the All-State meet and Sullivan wrestled at the New England championships, becoming the first Canton wrestler to win more than one match at the meet.

* Canton’s Drew Blake, a senior at Milton Academy, played for the Southeast baseball team and had an RBI double in the team’s 5-1 win over Metro at Bentley University.

* Michaela Trerice of Canton suited up for the Southeast-Coastal ice hockey team and was the leading point scorer in the team’s 3-3 draw against Northeast, tallying one goal and one assist.
