Police still searching for DD robbery suspect
By Jay TurnerCanton Police are still searching for a man who is believed to be responsible for a rash of armed robberies at several Dunkin Donuts locations in Canton and surrounding communities.
The most recent robbery occurred last Wednesday evening, July 24, at 600 Neponset Street — the same location that was robbed a month earlier, according to Deputy Chief Helena Findlen. In both instances, a man wearing dark clothes and a ski mask entered the store when there were no customers, showed a handgun, and demanded money from the cashiers.
Findlen said similar robberies have occurred in Westwood, Walpole, Norton, Newton, and Boston on the Dedham line. She said there were also two “suspicious attempts” in Avon and Westwood.
“We are working with detectives in those communities and working hand in hand with Dunkin Donuts corporate security,” said Findlen.
She added that the suspect is definitely a light-skinned male, although police have been unable to ascertain his race based on surveillance footage.
Canton Police recently released surveillance video on their Facebook page showing the attempt in Avon, which occurred roughly two hours prior to the Neponset Street robbery on July 24. In both instances, the suspect is shown wearing a “black or blue jacket or sweatshirt with a large horizontal green stripe and dark colored jeans”
Anyone who has information about this individual or who were in the area of the Neponset Street Dunkin Donuts at the time of the robbery (around 8:30 p.m.) should contact the CPD Detective Unit at 781-828-1212 or send a tip through www.cantonpolice.com.
