By Canton CitizenMarian Elizabeth (Smith) Sheridan, 89, of Canton, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013.
The daughter of the late Guy E. and Florence (Bassett) Smith, she was born in Woodsville, New Hampshire, and was raised and educated in Bridgewater. She had been a Canton resident for over 50 years.
A graduate of Brockton Business School, she had worked in the claims department of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as a young woman and then co-owned and operated R.J. Sheridan Credit Counseling with her late husband.
Mrs. Sheridan was best known to her family for sharing all she had and took special interest in children’s, veterans’ and homeless causes. She loved watching “The Wheel” and “Jeopardy,” her gardens, knitting, playing Bingo, dark chocolate, Dalmatians, and most of all being with her family. In her later years she had been an active member of the Canton Council on Aging, enjoying programs through the Senior Center.
Mrs. Sheridan was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Sheridan, in 1989 and was the sister of the late Ruth McCann and Edward A. Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Maureen F. Skelly and her husband, Michael, of Portsmouth, NH, Andrea Sheridan of Fitchburg, and Suzanne Fillion of Mansfield. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services in celebration of Marian’s life were held Monday morning, September 16, from the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, with a mass of Christian burial at St. John the Evangelist Church.
